BATIK Restaurant Bar

The meaning of the word Batik is the method of producing colored designs on textiles by dyeing them, having first applied wax to the parts to be left undyed. The restaurant was made to teach people the history of batik in a fun and artsy way. So it was no surprise to walk into this beautifully decorated restaurant and see different batik prints throughout the decor.

Before we ate, we were offered a tour of the restaurant where they showed us the wax and how to do the batik method properly. You can see the art on the walls, pillows, and in clothing around the restaurant. The restaurant not only shows the Indonesian culture but honors all of South East Asian.

After the tour, we ordered lunch. The restaurant offers a menu filled with south-east Asian and Indonesian cuisine. The menu also offers vegetarian options. We ordered the Thai Chicken Cashew Nuts, Nem Nuong, Thai Chicken in Coconut Milk, Salmon Teriyaki, Warm Apple Crumble, and Cheese Cake, and it was delicious.

Overall I loved learning the history of Batik and tasting the different spices and dishes from around south-east Asia. I went back to Batik three times during my trip to Bali to enjoy the fantastic Thai Chicken Cashew Nuts. The friendly staff and fantastic taste make Batik one of the best in Bali if you're looking for an excellent dining experience.
